About the firm
A father, a son, and one blueprint
In September 1981, my dad became a father for the first time. He was a contractor, and he spent his days reading blueprints and building houses from them. Most new parents send out a card with a name and a weight. My dad drew a blueprint.
Family and friends loved it. The drawing was framed, passed around, and kept, and over the years it became part of our family story.
Years later I sat down with that original drawing and digitized it, line by line. I kept every stroke of his pen and every one of his jokes, and I gave each piece of lettering its own layer. That meant the blueprint could finally be made for someone else: a new name, new dates, new measurements, and later a girl’s version with a bow in her hair.
Today my dad and I work on it together, the same father and son from that first blueprint in 1981. When you order, we letter your baby’s name, dates and details into the drawing he made for me, so your family gets the same blueprint ours has treasured for more than forty years.
